Historical Materialism applies dialectical materialism and its ideas of the transformation of quality into quantity, all phenomena, things and ideas contain dueling energies, namely contradictions, and the negation of the negation or one change is followed by another, the only permanent thing is change to human history and society. Historical materialism includes thinking frames such as “class” and “base and superstructure” or the idea that the personal level, the ideas we hold are birthed in how we earn a living and the ideas of a society are birthed in its mode of production. However, people can promulgate ideas that then turn around and change the means of production. To my mind, historical materialism is a pursuit of understanding the laws of revolutionizing the means of production such that they are owned by the workers and that historical wrongs of land theft from the indigenous and the enslavement of Afrikan people are addressed leading to sovereignty for both peoples.
