About us

We have a fundamental criticism of European-Western culture/racial capitalism’s impact at both the macro and micro levels of all of our lives, with a particular interest in the way these dynamics are impacting the lives of Black/African descended people. We pair this criticism with an idea from the Kawaida theory that an important part of critique is creating an alternative as well as with a practice of Adaptive Leadership of designing interventions to test the alternative that we’ve created. These ideas permeate our work. We aim to support different variations of Black-led, socialist, nationalist, or socialist/anti-racial capitalist -curious organizations, collectives and people who feel similarly.

Our style of facilitation, which is the heart of our work, is grounded in a commitment to supporting and building democratic spaces and our collective political criticality. This commitment is expressed through an intention to make sure we hear/read or otherwise collect input from as many voices as possible while protecting minority viewpoints and making connections to larger political trends.

The work has looked like:

  • facilitating a weekend orientation for a human rights organization;

  • a six-month process supporting a lead coordinator wanting a shift to a new organizational model with interviews, collective planning, and thought partnership;

  • a year-long process to support a coalition in creating its core agreements and strategy,

  • creating a Black empowerment educational curriculum,

  • a multi-year process analyzing a grants program to understand its contribution to the reproduction of structural racism.

And every project is unique, please reach out to us for a discussion!
